Vehicle into lake

On May 27, 2024, at approximately 9:49 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of West Hamilton Road between S.R. 14 and Bass Road, reference a train striking a person. The person was reportedly well off the roadway, nowhere close to West Hamilton Road when they were struck by the train. Officers and medics arrived, locating a deceased adult male, south of Bass Road along the railroad tracks, between Scott Road and West Hamilton Road. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Norfolk Southern Railroad Police and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
No foul play is suspected at this time.
This incident remains under investigation.
