One Deceased in I-69 Crash

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 1:34 A.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to Thimlar Road, north of Platter Road, reference a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers and medics located an adult male unconscious, in the roadway. Medics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the male was walking on the side of the roadway, when he was struck by the initial vehicle involved, which left the scene. That suspect vehicle is said to likely have damage to the front passenger side. According to a witness, who found the male in the roadway, a second vehicle struck the victim and left the scene as well. Police are seeking any information from the public that would assist in finding those vehicles. Police do not have a vehicle description for the first suspect vehicle at this time. The second vehicle is possibly a pickup truck, unknown make/model at this time.
