On May 3, 2024, at approximately 4:28 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of 1500 US 24 East, reference a multi-vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers and medics located one injured person.
A preliminary investigation indicated a semi tractor trailer was westbound on US 24. A pickup truck was also westbound on US 24. The pickup truck side-swiped the semi, then crossed the grass median and struck an eastbound US 24 pickup truck that was pulling a camper.
The driver of the semi was not injured. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was pronounced deceased a short time after arrival. The three occupants in the pickup truck pulling the camper were not injured.
This incident remains under investigation.
