One Deceased in Hit and Run Crash on I-69

On July 25, 2024, at approximately 2:38 A.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of I-69 northbound near the 319 mile marker, reference a disabled semi on the side of the highway and a body laying in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers and medics located one person on the highway, who was deceased. A preliminary investigation indicated that the deceased person was the driver of a semi that was disabled on the side of the highway. Officers located vehicle parts from another semi, believed to be involved in this incident. Officers said they are looking for a red or maroon in color, Volvo semi tractor, with front passenger side damage, missing a mirror. Anyone with information about this semi is asked to contact the Allen County Sheriff’s Department via their Dispatch at 260-449-3000.

This incident remains under investigation.

Fatal Hit and Run Crash Update on I-69

With information provided by the public, officers from multiple jurisdictions in conjunction with the Allen County Sheriff's Department were able to locate the semi tractor believed to be involved in the fatal hit and run crash that occurred on July 25, 2024 on I-69 northbound near the 319 mile marker.  We appreciate all the assistance from both the public and other jurisdictions in this investigation.  

One Critical in West Washington Center Road Crash

On July 22, 2024 at approximately 12:57 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff's Department responded to the intersection of West Washington Center Road and Stahlhut Road, reference a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
