On January 17, 2024, at approximately 7:00 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of U.S. 33, north of Cook Road, regarding a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers and medics located two vehicles and one driver with injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a passenger car was northbound on U.S. 33, north of Cook Road. The second vehicle involved was also a passenger car, which was southbound on U.S. 33, north of Cook Road. For unknown reasons, one of the vehicles appeared to have crossed the centerline, causing a head-on crash.
The driver in the northbound vehicle was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The driver in the southbound vehicle was not injured.
This incident remains under investigation.

Allen County Sheriff Troy Hershberger, announced today that the Indiana Sheriffs' Association will again be awarding college scholarships to qualified high school seniors or college students who are pursuing a degree in criminal justice studies. There will be approximately 40 - $750 scholarships awarded to qualifying students throughout the state.
