Tonkel Road Death Investigation

On August 19, 2024, at approximately 3:59 A.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the area of Tonkel Road, between Hursh Road and Hosler Road

Crash Investigators with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department have arrested the driver who left the scene of a fatal hit and run crash on July 25, 2024. The crash occurred on I-69 northbound at the 318.9 mile marker at 2:38 A.M. Officers located vehicle parts at the scene that indicated a semi was involved. Evidence showed that the driver of a broken down semi was outside of his vehicle on the shoulder of the highway, when he was struck by the suspect’s semi. Crash Investigators identified the suspect and semi after receiving tips from the public. After assistance from other police agencies in two states, Crash Investigators were able to solidify their case.
