One Person Critical in U.S. 27 Crash

On July 3, 2024, at approximately 7:55 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff's Department responded to the area of U.S. 27 and Ferguson Road, reference a person injury crash.
Just after 530pm, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Chrisren Cove, Woodlake Estates, on a reported shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and located a male inside the residence that had been shot. Southwest Fire District EMS arrived on the scene and pronounced the male victim deceased. The deceased victim had previously been in a relationship with the female homeowner. The male victim is reported to have been armed when he entered the residence and was shot by a male homeowner. Also in the residence at the time of the incident were two young children. There were no other injuries other than the fatal injuries suffered by the male victim. There is no threat to the general public. The investigation is on going and the sheriff’s department is being assisted by the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office will release the name of the victim and cause of death at a later date.
